Wellworded helps you find the right words. This policy explains what the app does with your information, in plain language.

What we process, and why

The text you type or speak. When you use Say It Better, Autopilot, or Rehearse, the words you enter, the context you provide, and (in Autopilot) the transcript of the conversation are sent to an AI model to generate suggestions.

• Speech recognition runs entirely on your iPhone using Apple's on-device speech model. Audio never leaves the device: not to Wellworded, not to Apple, not to any AI provider. Only the resulting text is sent to generate suggestions. Text you send through Siri or the Shortcuts app is handled exactly like text typed in the app.
• If you use Wellworded's built-in AI, that text goes to Wellworded's server, which forwards it to Anthropic (the makers of Claude) to generate the response. We don't store your messages on our server; they exist only long enough to produce the reply. Anthropic's handling of API data is described in their privacy policy.
• If you connect your own AI key (Claude, OpenAI, or Google Gemini), the text goes directly from your phone to that provider under your own account and their terms. Your key is stored only in your iPhone's Keychain and never leaves the device.

Your voice fingerprint. If you choose to let Autopilot learn your voice, Wellworded computes a small numeric fingerprint of how you sound (not a recording) and stores it only on your phone. It's used solely to label which lines of a transcript are yours. You can delete it any time in Settings → Autopilot → Forget my voice.

A random device identifier. Wellworded generates a random ID on your phone (stored in the Keychain) and sends it with built-in AI requests so we can count the free monthly allowance. It is not your Apple ID, advertising ID, phone number, or anything that identifies you personally, and we don't link it to any other data.

Subscription receipts. If you subscribe to Wellworded Pro, your phone sends Apple's signed receipt to our server so we can confirm the subscription is active. We see the subscription's product and expiry date — never your payment details, name, or email. Apple handles all billing.

Server logs and abuse prevention. Our server runs on Cloudflare. Like any web service it sees your IP address while handling a request; Cloudflare's request logs keep it for up to seven days for troubleshooting and abuse prevention. Our own usage counters store the random device identifier (never your IP address) and are deleted automatically 45 days after the month they count. To stop scripted abuse we keep a one-way hash of the network a new device first appeared from, for two days.

Your history. Past rewrites are saved only on your device. Delete them any time from the History screen. They are included in your device backups like any app data.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or share your data with advertisers.
• We don't track you across apps or websites.
• We don't build a profile of you or train AI models on your text.
• We don't require an account, email, or password.

Autopilot and other people

Autopilot transcribes conversations you're part of. Recording or transcribing a conversation may require the consent of everyone in it, depending on where you are. You are responsible for using Autopilot lawfully and respectfully.

Children

Wellworded is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the app's update notes will say so.
